We had the 3 course lunch today and it was excellent! So much food that we walked back to our hotel and I may only have fruit later. Our server was Felipe and he took excellent care to make our first experience here a joy. Highly recommend.
I've been visiting Chicago for a few decades now, and Frontera is high on my list of favorites. I had skipped it the last few times I was in town in order to try new places, but on this visit, circumstances had me right nearby, so I stopped in for Saturday brunch. Boy am I glad I did. My meal was simply outstanding. Laser focus on the quality of ingredients and execution, resulting in food that sang with bold, vibrant and earthy flavors without any pretense nor artifice. I was almost embarrassed by how I practically inhaled my food. I'll go so far as to say it was the best meal I've had in Chicago in the last 5 years or so. And this was just brunch. Often times an afterthought for a restaurant after a busy weekend. A very chill, relaxed vibe permeates the place, and the professionalism of the staff is a testament to Mr. Bayless and his management team. Major props to RB and his team. Shout out to Chef Javonika! Thank you for making my sister’s birthday an amazing day. The food was spectacular. I couldn’t believe the flavors that we experienced here. So many family favorite flavors in such a new and amazing way. We will never forget this experience.
I had a great experience here! Right after our waiter knows I can’t have pork products, he provided me alternative options to chips since it’s fired with pork skin together. This small gesture and his knowledge of the ingredients and food processing amazed me. I would say great food and superb service! Highly recommended!
Absolutely love this place! The Mexican food is always spot on—fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The real highlight? The drinks! Juliana and Esmeralda are amazing behind the bar—friendly, attentive, and they know how to mix a killer margarita. Great vibes all around. Highly recommend!
For anyone looking for genuinely authentic flavors along with outstanding service, go here. I’ve been to all sorts of Mexican restaurants and taquerias around here and nothing comes even close to Frontera. Chef Bayless really puts Mexican tradition and flavors at the forefront here. Everything tastes incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The service also deserves recognition. If you order starters they’ll serve them to share if you want (Get the tortilla soup, you won’t regret it or the presentation). The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and will recommend dishes or drinks. I can’t recommend Frontera enough!
Y’all, the Windy City done blew me into this place and let me tell ya, hurricane winds had to blow me out! Lookin for that authentic taste, blasting all types of flavors in your mouth... well this the place. Our server knew his food and suggested margaritas that best paired with the dish. Bout those margs, go ahead and let the first one hit them lips and tell me you ain’t getting another one, I’ll wait! Make reservations, no dress requirement, clean, and for sure decently priced!
Frontera Grill never disappoints. This restaurant should not be missed if you are in the area and looking for elevated Mexican . It is very expensive and they add gratuity so beware not to double tip. Rick Bayless has a profound love of Mexico and its foods. I highly recommend Frontera Grill.
